Passive transdermal drug delivery has been in use for over 20 years, but was
successful only with a limited number of active molecules. In fact, very few
drugs can passively diffuse across the skin barrier at therapeutically useful
rates. TransPharma Medical’s RF-MicroChannel Technology overcomes this obstacle.
Applying RF current to create cell ablation is a well known, proven medical
technology. The RF scalpel is commonly used in electro-surgery and in
laparoscopic resection. RF ablation is a safe, low-cost technique and a familiar
concept in medical practice.
TransPharma Medical has applied and modified RF cell ablation technology to
develop a unique way to painlessly, accurately and safely create micro-channels
in the skin’s surface to enable transdermal delivery of drugs that cannot be
delivered using current technologies. In fact, TransPharma Medical’s RF
MicroChannel Technology is the only viable technology that encompasses all the
salient features to differentiate it from other transdermal drug delivery
techniques under development.
