The ViaDerm system incorporates a patch containing a drug that is applied
following the creation of the RF-MicroChannels.
TransPharma Medical's formulation team has gained a vast amount of experience
and expertise to efficiently formulate compounds to be delivered using the
ViaDerm system. Depending on the compound’s characteristics, the drug patch used
could be one of the following:
- A patch carrying a hydrophilic formulation
- A unique patch for proteins
- A non-altered standard existing patch
Breakthroughs in Drug Patch Technology
TransPharma Medical is pioneering a unique printed patch for transdermal
delivery of proteins, which will complement its ViaDerm delivery technology.
The printed patch involves spreading a drug molecule in a dry form on a
backing liner. The powder patch stays in its dry form, which improves stability
and prolongs shelf life, right up until the time it is administered. As soon as
the RF MicroChannels have been created, and the printed patch is applied,
extra-cellular fluid, released by the body through the microchannels, comes in
contact with the powder and dissolves it to form a saturated solution or
suspension with an extremely sharp concentration gradient, resulting in
efficient delivery.
The Printed Patch Technology, a proprietary TransPharma Medical technology,
brings together the advantages of a dry dosage form and the special features of
the hydrophilic channels. It is being specifically developed to provide a
solution to the challenge of transdermal delivery of proteins and other
macromolecules.
